Event match quality: the score most accounts never look at.

← All guides

Every conversion event you send Meta gets a score from 0 to 10, sitting in Events Manager where almost nobody looks. It's called event match quality... EMQ... and it measures one thing: can Meta connect this conversion to an actual person?

That connection is everything. A matched conversion becomes training data... real patterns from a real human that delivery can learn from and find more of. An unmatched one becomes a modeled guess, a statistical shrug.

the scale, in Events Manager

A typical pixel event arrives carrying whatever the browser could scrape... maybe a hashed email if the person filled a form, often little more. Meta matches what it can and models the rest. That's a 5 or a 6, and it means a real slice of your conversions are teaching the algorithm nothing.

What a 9 looks like

Every event that fires goes out enriched: email, phone, name, IP address, and click ID attached. Not because the browser happened to have them... because your CRM does, and the event comes from there.

Illustrative · the gate filters what Meta is told to want, not who intake works.
At 9 and above, Meta matches conversions to real people instead of modeling guesses.

The click ID deserves its own sentence. Captured at the scheduler the moment a call books, it ties the conversion to the exact ad impression that caused it... no probabilistic matching, no attribution modeling. This person, this ad, certainty.

Quality has a second meaning

Match quality is about identity. But there's a quality question upstream of it: which events deserve to fire at all?

A lead that fails your qualifiers should never trigger a money event. Gate the events first and the algorithm only ever trains on people who passed... it learns the shape of a qualified buyer, not a form-filler. High EMQ on gated events is the whole recipe: the right people, matched with certainty.

Your EMQ score is sitting in Events Manager right now. If it's a 5, that's not a settings problem... it's a plumbing problem. The data that would make it a 9 exists in your stack. It just isn't wired in yet.

Questions, answered straight.

What is Meta event match quality (EMQ)?

EMQ is Meta’s 0–10 score for whether a conversion event can be matched to a real person (email, phone, click ID, and similar). Higher match means less modeling guesswork. EMQ is plumbing quality—not proof your ads are profitable.

Why does a higher EMQ score change what Meta can optimize toward?

Matched events become clearer training data. When identity sticks, Meta can pattern-match real converters instead of statistical shrugs—so whatever events you send (bookings or buyers) get learned more accurately.

Does a 9+ EMQ mean my ads are profitable?

No. A 9+ means Meta can match people reliably. You can have excellent EMQ on the wrong event (cheap leads) and still lose money. Profitability is true CAC and collected cash—not the match score.

How is EMQ different from true CAC?

EMQ asks “can Meta match this event to a person?” True CAC asks “what did a paying client actually cost?” Fix both: match quality on buyer/cash events. Run the calculator for the cost side.

What events should a high-ticket consultation business care about matching?

Events downstream of the form: qualified showed, offer, closed-won, collected cash—tied to the original click. Matching bookings alone still teaches Meta to find bookers.

After EMQ is healthy, what’s still missing for Meta to find buyers?

The right optimization signal. Healthy EMQ on gated buyer and cash events is the recipe; healthy EMQ on form fills still crowns false winners. CAPii’s aisle is the data layer that sends those outcomes—not EMQ-as-a-product.
